Hi, I’m Tara, the founder of Terra Nova Reptiles and a lifelong animal enthusiast. My journey began in childhood, sparked by a fascination with nature and the environment. Over the years, that curiosity developed into a deep commitment towards ethical relationships with animals — both in captivity and in the wild.

I hold a degree in Environmental Studies with a specialization in Conservation and Biodiversity, which has given me a strong foundation in ecological science and animal welfare. Through my studies, I developed a deep appreciation for the complex roles reptiles play in their native environments and the importance of preserving those systems through sustainable, informed practices.

At Terra Nova Reptiles, I combine academic knowledge with years of hands-on experience to support both reptiles and the people who care for them. I believe that ethical reptile keeping starts with education—understanding each species’ natural behaviors, environmental needs, and how to create enriching, species-appropriate habitats in captivity.

My goal is not only to promote responsible ownership but also to shift the culture of reptile care toward one that prioritizes the well-being of the animals over convenience or trends. That means advocating for proper husbandry, discouraging impulse purchases, and encouraging thoughtful, lifelong commitments to reptile companions.

Whether you're a beginner looking to take your first step into the world of reptile keeping or a seasoned hobbyist seeking to improve your practices, I’m here to provide guidance rooted in compassion, science, and respect—for the animals, and for the planet we share.
